The project proposes transforming the Dani Jarque Sports Complex into a fully equipped public park. The goal is to redefine this space by incorporating urban gardens and constructing 147 units of social housing. These units are initially intended as temporary housing for residents of the La Pau neighborhood while their homes are being renovated, and will later evolve into a supply of emergency social housing.
The proposal addresses the loss of biodiversity and functionality caused by the excessive urban expansion of the past century, which has relegated necessary but inconvenient infrastructure and elements to the city’s peripheries. The aim is to recover the essence of a territory that historically formed part of the agricultural zone of the Besòs River delta.
Through a temporary yet strategically designed intervention, the aim is to raise public awareness of the benefits of a more sustainable lifestyle, both individually and collectively. This includes energy efficiency, health, neighborhood relations, and passive climate management of housing. In this sense, the project is conceived as a practical and inclusive example of a necessary transition in the face of the climate emergency, promoting a paradigm shift in an intelligent and accessible way, without generating resistance.
