Located on Costa Rica’s northern Pacific coast, the project consists of two independent signature villas designed as a dual narrative of privacy and light. Each 300-square-meter structure comprises two parallel wooden pavilions that rise above the jungle canopy, flanking a central open-air courtyard of “contained nature.”
Rather than a single massive structure, the decision to separate the program into two distinct volumes allows for visual tranquility and optimized airflow between the buildings. This configuration ensures that each villa functions as a private observation deck—a sanctuary that balances the density of the tropical forest with the infinite horizon of the beach.
The design emerges from a dialogue between opposites: the earthly and the ethereal, protection and openness. These volumes embrace a central courtyard, a nucleus of “contained nature” that acts as the project’s lung. The layout follows a “U” shape, defined by two main residential pavilions connected by a lower transverse volume that frames the entrance to the beach, maintaining a constant connection with the landscape.
